Pop Goes the Classics

Featuring George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue
With pianist Ben Van Exan

and our host Rev Whoopsie Daisy

The Rainbow Concert Band proudly presents our 2026 spring show Pop Goes the Classics, an evening built around George Gershwin’s legendary masterpiece Rhapsody in Blue.

This is a rare opportunity to experience one of North America’s most iconic works performed live with full concert band and piano, brought to life by guest pianist Ben Van Exan.

We are also celebrating ten years with our long time host and dear friend Rev Whoopsie Daisy. Expect elegance, humour, and just the right touch of sparkle as we honour a decade of fabulous memories together.

Pop Goes the Classics blends classic American sound, spring energy, and vibrant community spirit into a concert that promises both artistry and joy. Join us for a musical night that celebrates connection, creativity, and the power of live performance.

One Thought on “Concerts and Events”

  • Thunderbird Community Centre is hosting a Celebrate Canada event on Saturday June 27. There will be an auto show, a BBQ lunch, games, face painting, a bouncy castle and a giant Canadian flag created by people holding up red and white balloons to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Flag.

We would love to have the The Vancouver Rainbow Concert Band come join in the festivities and play for the neighborhood. We a located one block from your rehearsal location at 2311 Cassiar Street.

I hear you guys practice every Thursday evening and I think you sound great. Please, please, please say you will play for the neighborhood.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.
