Any concert band instruments are always welcome – we’d love to hear from you. We invite you to come out to a Rehearsal and either sit in and play with the band or listen and have a chance to chat with current band members.
We are also on the lookout for volunteers interested in other roles, both musical and behind the scenes. Contact us for more information!
Lesbian, Gay, Transgendered, Bisexual, Queer, Queer-friendly and Allied people only please. We currently have a diverse and welcoming group of musicians in our band. While our membership is primarily Queer, gay, lesbian, and bisexual we welcome people of all genders and orientations.
Membership Dues and Benefits
Being an active playing and paying member of the Rainbow Concert Band is one way you can support the band, and it comes with several benefits. Your membership dues help to pay our operating expenses, such as rehearsal space rental, new music, and instrument upkeep and repair, as well as administrative costs. If you are a fully paid up member of the Rainbow Concert Band you also get to vote at the Annual General Meeting and help to decide the path that the Band follows each year.
Membership Dues are $240 yearly (from September 1 to August 31), or $80 per Season. We have three Seasons a year. Our Fall Season is from September to December, our Spring season is from January to May, and the Pride Season is from June to August and includes all pride activities.
Subsidies
For members who are students, retired, underemployed or who are otherwise unable to pay the full membership dues, full/partial dues subsidies are available in exchange for participation in extra volunteering efforts throughout the year, including fundraising, posting flyers for concerts, administrative tasks (music library filing, band room cleanup), and anything else you can think of.

Hello!
I am interested in joining your group. I am a clarinettist from Canberra, Australia and I will shortly be moving to Vancouver (availability is from mid-April 2015) to accompany my partner on his work placement at Vancouver General Hospital.
I studied clarinet performance as part of my music degree (2002-2007) at the University of Western Australia (under Allan Meyer, principal clarinet of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra). I have both concert band and orchestral playing experience (in youth orchestras, university ensembles and community-based orchestras and bands since graduating).
Should you have any need for additional clarinets I would love to get in touch!
(What a wonderful idea to have an LGBTI concert band!)
Warm regards
Tim Artelaris
