Job Posting: Band Seeking Conductor and Artistic Director
The search is on for a new Conductor and Artistic Director for the Rainbow Concert Band, Canada's only Gay and Lesbian concert band!
The Rainbow Concert Band has been an important part of the Vancouver LGBT musical community since its formation in 1990, shortly after Gay Games III. Embarking on its 18th season, the Band is dedicated to providing an outlet for lesbian, gay, transgendered and bisexual (and even a few straight) people looking for a safe and supportive environment to practice and perform music.
The RCB performs one to two concerts per season. We also play in the Vancouver Pride Parade, the AIDS Walk, the Dyke March, Parade of Lost Souls, well as at other Pride events around BC.
This post offers a small honorarium and an opportunity to be part of our continuing community history.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting
- Choosing music for performances
- Liaising with other musical and queer groups
- Deciding concert themes
- Attending weekly practices on Thursday nights
- Attending monthly Board/planning meetings.
